Erin A. L. Townley
Profile
Erin received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Alberta in 2014, and has practiced exclusively in family law since being called to the Bar in 2015. Erin has a people-centred approach to her practice, with an emphasis on high-conflict parenting situations. She is passionate about finding solutions for her clients that cater to their unique situation, as she strongly believes that family law is not as simple as “right” and “wrong”.
As a parent of two children, Erin understands that every family unit is different and requires an approach that recognizes each member’s personal circumstances.
Family law inside and outside the courtroom
Erin is driven to find lasting solutions and strongly believes Alternative Dispute Resolution favours this approach. However, as a skilled divorce lawyer, she also understands that ADR requires the cooperation of both parties, which is not always possible, especially when emotions are running high. In the event litigation is necessary to move your matter to a resolution, Erin is a talented litigator who regularly appears in both the Alberta Court of Justice, and the Alberta Court of King’s Bench, with a number of successful reported decisions.
Mediation services
In addition to representing her own clients, Erin is a trained mediator. With the benefit of understanding what it means to litigate in a Courtroom setting, Erin now brings her years of experience advocating for parents to facilitating productive settlement between parents. She focuses on helping the parties find dynamic solutions for their family that fit outside the cut-and-paste mould that often exists in Court. If you feel your matter may be suited to mediation, or parenting coordination, please contact Erin’s assistant today to discuss availability and rates.
Outside the office
When not in the office, you can usually find Erin on her yoga mat, getting lost in the mountains, camping, or travelling the world with her family.
